Reiki: A Self Practice to Live in Peace with Self and Others workshop is based on mindful Reiki self-practice. One does not have to look far to see that, in 2020-2021, individuals' capacities to manage personal and societal pressures has resulted in many lives filled with distress and overwhelm. Many of us feel vulnerable and threatened when faced with the ongoing, daily uncertainties and complexities of modern life, as well as the systemic forces that bring harm and disadvantage.

How is Reiki practice like a snow globe, a palm tree, and an anchor? As we navigate life's unpredictable squalls and waves of adversity, we aspire to settle like the snow in a snow globe, feel rooted like the base of a palm tree in a storm, and be anchored like a steady ship.

The purpose of this 'Reiki: A Self Practice to Live in Peace with Self and Others' workshop is to provide participants with practical mind-body skills and how-tos based in Reiki teachings and practices.  Practicing these mind-body skills builds an inner unshakable foundation, so we can invite a mindful way of living with ease and peacefulness instead of struggle. We are also strengthened to take action to relieve the suffering of others.

We bring the teachings of Reiki, a Japanese mind-body-spirit healing and meditation practice, directly to workshop participants by teaching practices and meditations including hara breathing, Joshin Kokyu-ho, 3 Diamonds of Ki, and hands-on healing of self.  These practices are accessible to people of all ages, backgrounds, and health conditions.  The experiential self-Reiki practices taught in this workshop can help alleviate pain and overwhelm, and usher in mindfulness, resilience, and recovery capacity.

This workshop is user-friendly, practical and skills-based so participants leave with a sustainable meditation and healing practice for themselves.

No Reiki experience or training necessary.

Nancy Spatz

Nancy Spatz

Nancy Spatz, MD, Reiki Master Teacher, graduated from Boston University School of Medicine in 1990. Nancy's training continued at Beth Israel Hospital-Harvard Medical School, where she completed her Psychiatry training in 1994. After having witnessed the ongoing hardships that people experience with medical and emotional illness, Nancy discovered the efficacy of Reiki practice. Nancy realized that by utilizing Reiki meditation practices people could develop their own mind-body connection to reach for wellness. Teaching others Reiki meditation to address their health conditions allowed them to feel their inner strength and wholeness, even if not cured. Nancy found that the combination of her medical knowledge and Reiki practice helped people calm the mind, settle the body, and heal. Nancy's care for others became the impetus to get the word out so all of us can experience the benefits of Reiki self- practice.

Nancy has been involved in advocacy work for children for several decades. Early in her training, Nancy realized that childhood experiences shape children's ability to cope and advocate for themselves. After working with abused children, Nancy noticed how vulnerable and exposed children can be when they’ve suffered adverse childhood experiences. Nancy understood that for the children to feel safe and empowered, the adults around them must model stability and calm by practicing Reiki mind-body skills.

Dr. Spatz is the co-founder of Inspire Power Advocacy in Motion, a unique program which blends breathwork, meditation, Reiki practice, and martial arts for the purpose of cultivating self-awareness, strength and self-advocacy. Inspire Power classes and workshops introduce skills and practices for participants to build resilience and overall wellbeing. The goal of all Inspire Power classes is to increase awareness and focus, cultivate self-advocacy and autonomy, and develop strength and endurance. Dr. Spatz runs Inspire Power Workshops in the community. Nancy Spatz also provides Reiki treatments to individuals with medical illnesses in hospitals, in homes, and in her Reiki treatment studio.
