About Zehara Nachash:
Zehara Nachash is a professional belly dancer and snake charmer based in Boston. She has been dancing since childhood, but began adding belly dance to her repertoire in 2003. Since then she has taught and performed throughout New England with (and without) her slithering dance partners. She has studied neo-paganism, witchcraft, ceremonial magick, Goddess religions, mythology, mysticism, and shamanism for 15 years. Zehara has been performing various styles of dance since childhood and has focused her studies on Middle Eastern, Aboriginal and African Dance styles. Zehara has been a practionar of witchcraft, Wicca, and Shamanism for over 15 years and uses ritualistic styles of dance as a means to access the Divine. Zehara believes through ritualistic dance one can obtain a higher understanding of oneself and the world around them. Zehara teaches all of her students about the ability to gain a better understanding of themselves through movement. Zehara is the producer/director of ANIMUS: A Shamanic Journey Through Belly Dance which incorporates shamanic dance and story telling through theatre art. She is also the Troupe Director for Alankara and host of Desert Dreams: A Monthly Belly Dance Showcase. Regarding her snakes: Zehara Nachash is Boston’s Resident Snake Charmer and Premier Snake Dancer. She has worked with and owned snakes for over ten years and has worked closely with some of the top herpetologist and snake dancers in the country. She has been featured in several articles and television programs regarding snake dancing and snake ownership. She has been teaching her Serpentine workshops across New England since 2005. Zehara and her snakes are favorites at many events including expos, birthday parties, weddings, and concerts. Zehara’s purpose in life is to be the voice for these often misunderstood creatures and to help break down the barriers surrounding the Sacred Serpent.
